Tatu Erkkilä (b. 1993) is a Helsinki-based choral conductor and pianist who works as assistant choral conductor at the Finnish National Opera in addition to the Polytech Choir. Previously, he has been the artistic director of the internationally acclaimed mixed choir Somnium Ensemble (2009-2020) and assistant choirmaster at the Mannheim Opera House in Germany (2020-2022). Since autumn 2023, he has also been Artistic Director of Taurus Consort, the vocal ensemble he founded.
Erkkilä graduated with an A degree in choral conducting from the Sibelius Academy at the University of the Arts Helsinki in spring 2019 and completed his Master of Music degree in the summer of the same year. In 2018-2019 he also studied at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin. Erkkilä regularly works as a chorepetiteur and rehearsal conductor at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and is in demand as an accompanist and audition coach. Erkkilä is also occasionally seen as a conductor, and as a singer he can be heard in the ranks of the Helsinki Chamber Choir, among others, in addition to occasional soloist roles.
Erkkilä has been Artistic Director of PK since January 2024.
