Introduction

The Polytechnic Choir has released a new recording. The core of the Unetar album’s repertoire is the new works commissioned by the choir for its 120th anniversary: Sebastian Fagerlund’s Dream-Land, which is a large-scale travelogue to the land of dreams set to a poem by Edgar Allan Poe, and Mikko Heiniö’s set of Juha Vakkuri’s poignant poems Täällä, kaikkialla. The album also contains Tapani Länsiö’s compositions Rhythm and Silence from the series Words of Widsdom, as well as less often heard treasures of national romantic male choral singing, such as Ida Moberg’s Skogsrån, Tauno Marttinen’s Veljesten paluu Jukolaan, Armas Järnefelt’s Onnelliset and the title piece, Leevi Madetoja’s Unetar. On the album, the Polytechnic Choir is led by artistic director Saara Aittakumpu.
